LHCb upgrade plans

چکیده
The LHCb experiment will operate for about five years at a luminosity of 2 × 10 cms and plans are to accumulate a data sample of ∼ 10 fb. Here we present the physics programme and detector design for a future high luminosity phase of the LHCb experiment. An upgraded LHCb experiment would operate at ten times the design luminosity, i.e. at ∼ 2×10 cms and aims to collect a data sample of ∼ 100 fb over five years. This programme would allow the probe of new physics at an unprecedented level. Key measurements include the B s

The LHCb Upgrade
Future flavour physics experiments will be required in the second half of the next decade to either elucidate the flavour structure of new particles discovered at the LHC or to probe new physics at the multi-TeV scale. The planned upgrade of the LHCb detector involves at least five years of operating at ten times the current design luminosity, i.e. at about 2×10 33 cm −2 s −1. The aim is to col...
متن کاملStudy of a solution with COTS for the LHCb calorimeter upgrade
We present a solution made out of Components Out of Shelf (COTS) for the analog processing of the signal of the LHCb calorimeters in the framework of the foreseen upgrade of the detector. The present proposal is based on the current functional solution, yet, to meet the stringent noise requirements, a number of modifications are proposed. Preliminary results on the prototype boards show promisi...
متن کاملEMULATION AND CALIBRATION OF THE SALT READ-OUT CHIP FOR THE UPSTREAM TRACKER FOR MODERNISED LHCb DETECTOR∗
The LHCb is one of the four major experiments currently operating at CERN. The main reason for constructing the LHCb forward spectrometer was a precise measurement of the CP violation in heavy quarks section as well as search for a New Physics. To obtain interesting results, the LHCb is mainly focused on study of B meson decays. Unfortunately, due to the present data acquisition architecture, t...
متن کاملTrigger-less readout architecture for the upgrade of the LHCb experiment at CERN F Alessio Development of a Standardised Readout System for Active Pixel Sensors in HV/HR-CMOS Technologies for ATLAS Inner Detector Upgrades
The LHCb experiment is upgrading part of its detector and the entire readout system towards a full 40 MHz readout system in order to run between five and ten times its initial design luminosity and increase its trigger efficiency. In this paper, the new timing , trigger and control distribution system for such an upgrade is reviewed with particular attention given to the distribution of the clo...
متن کاملA generic firmware core to drive the Front-End GBT-SCAs for the LHCb upgrade
The LHCb experiment has proposed an upgrade towards a full 40 MHz readout system in order to run between five and ten times its initial design luminosity. The entire Front-End electronics will be upgraded in order to cope with higher sub-detector occupancy, higher data rate and to work in a complete trigger-less fashion. In this paper, we describe a novel way to transmit slow control informatio...
